The Bucks County Country Gentlemen barbershop chorus is a fraternal membership organization of singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun through music. We currently have approximately 35 singers representing diverse walks of life from the greater Central Bucks County region.  Though some of our members are accomplished vocal musicians, many do not read music and have limited previous experience in organized singing.  We provide support and instruction to enable our members to learn music and perform skillfully.

Performance

We love to entertain, and can be heard throughout the year, singing for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches and community events.  Each February our quartets deliver Singing Valentines to unsuspecting recipients throughout the community, and our annual show in November brings the best of barbershop chorus and quartet entertainment to a Bucks County stage.

Education

We provide support to our members in developing skills in vocal and visual performance, and in gaining an understanding of basic music theory.  An instructional component is included in every rehearsal.  Visiting coaches provide instruction and training in the finer points of barbershop singing and performance.

Competition

Several times a year we have the opportunity as a chorus and as quartets to compete with other singers at a barbershop convention.  Each singing group performs two songs as best they can to receive a calibrated score and rank.  The best singers are invited to perform in the next level competition.  Friendly competition with other choruses and quartets is a big part of the barbershop experience.

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who perform as vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. The Bucks County Country Gentlemen is currently home to a number of quartets, and we are very proud of them!

Affiliation

The Bucks County Country Gentlemen is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a non-profit organization of approximately 25,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Society is headquartered in Nashville, TN.
